Tom Elliott
Captain
Blues: 2012, 2013, 2014
Colours:
Tom Elliott has been named Blues captain for his third year after a successful summer in 2013 with the bat. Elliott recorded a half century in the one-day Varsity match at Lord’s and compiled a maiden first class century in the second innings of the four-day Varsity at Fenner’s. Tom has played five first class matches in his first two years at University, and his hard hitting style has often provided important runs for both Blues and MCCU. He was part of the MCCU side which won the one-day and two-day ‘double’ in 2012 and as players from that side moved on responded very well to the added responsibility granted to him by coach Chris Scott in 2013. Having proved himself one of the most consistent batsmen at the club, Tom will hope to improve further now he leads the Blues side.
Tom is an old Tonbridgian and is the latest in a long line of batting talent to have progressed from the school to full Blue honours at University. Indeed, his first appearance at Fenner’s came for the Cowdrey Schools in 2010 and he showed early signs of his batting pedigree by blasting a match-winning half century. An all-round sportsman, Tom has also been awarded club colours for second team Hockey and was the University Racquets captain in 2012/13.
